Microbiology Society Journals Publish and Read
The Microbiology Society's Publish and Read agreement provides institutions with uncapped Open Access (OA) publishing and unlimited access to the Society's journal archive. Any article published in the Society’s journals where the corresponding author is from a participating institution is made OA by default, with no limits on the number of OA articles. Institutions also gain unlimited usage rights. Any user affiliated with a participating institution can access the entire archive of content, dating back to 1947, for reading, as well as text and data mining.
The journal portfolio includes:
Fully OA titles:
- Microbial Genomics – launched in 2015
- Microbiology – launched in 1947
- Access Microbiology – launched in 2019
Hybrid titles:
- Journal of General Virology – launched in 1967
- Journal of Medical Microbiology – launched in 1968
- International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology – launched in 1951
More details are available on the Microbiology Society website.
Open Access Publication Tracking & Reporting
Under the Microbiology Society’s Publish & Read agreement, all Open Access (OA) articles are automatically logged via CCC RightsLink upon acceptance, with no need for additional approval. Libraries can enable auto-approve in their RightsLink admin account for a seamless experience. If needed, the Microbiology Society can help set up this account using the library administrator’s email.
The Microbiology Society Article Checker tool offers a quick way to check which articles and corresponding authors have published OA. Simply select your institution to view eligible publications. For broader tracking of OA activity, consider using the OA Switchboard.
For more details on RightsLink setup, dashboards, and reporting, please refer to the Publish and Read FAQ.
