Brepols Databases

Brepols Publishers is an international academic publisher specialising in the humanities, with a long-standing focus on source-works from Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Early Modern period. This includes critical editions of original texts, reference tools such as encyclopaedias, handbooks and bibliographies, and monograph studies across core disciplines including history, archaeology, language and literature, theology, music, and art and architectural history.

Brepols is based in Turnhout, Belgium, and has remained an independent scholarly publisher since its origins in the late eighteenth century. Its online platform, BREPOLiS, hosts a comprehensive suite of bibliographic, full text and reference databases that support advanced research in classical, medieval, humanist and religious studies. These include specialised bibliographies, curated source-text collections in Latin, Greek and related languages, dictionaries, encyclopaedias and stand-alone databases.
